Industrial wire company integration

Two acquired industrial wire companies moved onto one network, one domain and one Azure footprint, with the ERP migrated and one business continuity plan for both.

$200K

a year saved on infrastructure maintenance

The challenge

Two PE-backed industrial wire companies operated as one business on two disconnected technology stacks: separate networks and domains, legacy firewalls, switches and phone systems, and an on-premise ERP with downtime and recovery risk.

Warehouse Wi-Fi dead spots limited operations and usable storage, and neither company had security monitoring or a business continuity plan. Paying twice to run one business undercut the merger economics.

Our approach

With fractional CIO leadership throughout, we integrated the two networks and domains and replaced the legacy firewalls, switches and access points. We moved the on-premise systems, including the ERP, to Microsoft Azure and put Microsoft 365 email under one domain.

We added security event monitoring, endpoint protection and Autopilot device provisioning, and set up quarterly vulnerability scanning.

The outcome

Consolidating the infrastructure saved $200K a year in maintenance. The monthly close is faster on centralized systems, both companies share one domain and one business continuity plan, and manual network restores and ERP server downtime are gone.

Every warehouse and office now runs on fully redundant Azure infrastructure with built-in monitoring, and fixing the Wi-Fi dead spots improved efficiency and added usable storage locations.
