What we do

What are private equity IT services?

Private equity IT services cover the technology work a deal needs from first look to sale: IT and cybersecurity due diligence, carve-out and integration delivery, and the managed IT, security, ERP and AI governance that run a portfolio company through the hold. Compello does all of it with one senior team, so nothing is lost between vendors.

Our approach

Our unique approach to private equity IT services

Most PE technology work is split between firms that diagnose and firms that do. Compello does both. The senior operators who diligence your deal stay to deliver the 100-day plan, then run IT, security, ERP and AI governance through the hold. We work as operators, not consultants, so every recommendation ties back to EBITDA and exit value. Big-firm experience, sized and priced for the lower and middle market.

Where sponsors bring us in

Seven places sponsors bring Compello in across a hold. Each is led by senior operators, and each hands off to the same team rather than a new vendor.

01 · Diligence

IT due diligence

“What are we really buying?”

A senior-led review of the target’s IT, cybersecurity and systems before you sign, so the risks and costs are priced in and the first 100 days are already planned.

One-time and run-rate IT cost estimates

A draft 100-day IT plan

02 · First 100 days

Carve-outs and TSAs

“How do we stand this business up on its own?”

Fourteen carve-outs delivered end to end. We scope the TSA, build the standalone environment and move the business off the seller’s systems before the TSA runs out.

A planned TSA exit

02 · First 100 days

Post-close integration

“How do we combine without disrupting the business?”

Merger and add-on integration run to a 100-day plan: users, email, networks and systems brought onto one standard, with a PMO keeping the work on track.

02–03 · Post-close

ERP, implemented and run

“Why does our month-end close still take ten days?”

We implement NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Campfire, the AI-native ERP, then stay on to run it after go-live, so the system still has an owner once the project ends.

03 · Run the hold

Cybersecurity and vCISO

“Can we show the board our security is under control?”

A CISO-led practice that sets a security baseline, runs the program through the hold and reports on it, including policy and controls for Shadow AI.

Security baseline and AI maturity assessment

Fractional CISO (vCISO)

Policies, training and compliance

03 · Run the hold

AI strategy and governance

“Is AI a risk in our portfolio, or a lever we’re missing?”

We find where AI is already in use, set one governance baseline across the portfolio, train every company by role and build the use cases that move EBITDA.

AI readiness due diligence and maturity assessment

AI policy, governance, workshops and training

Use cases built and tracked to EBITDA

04 · Exit

Exit readiness

“Will our IT hold up in the buyer’s diligence?”

Before a sale, we review IT and cybersecurity the way a buyer’s diligence team will, then fix what they would flag, so technology doesn’t become a reason to cut the price.

Managed IT and security

One managed IT standard across the portfolio

Most deal-side firms hand the business back once the project ends. Compello stays and runs it: one managed IT standard across your portfolio companies, with sponsor-ready reporting on how every company is running.

FAQ

Questions sponsors ask

Something we haven’t covered? A partner can answer it on a short call.

What do private equity IT services include?

IT and cybersecurity due diligence, carve-out and integration support, and the managed IT, security, ERP and AI governance a portfolio company needs through the hold. At Compello, one senior team covers all of it, from diligence to exit.

Both. Deal teams and operating partners bring us in for diligence and post-close work, and portfolio companies are where we run managed IT, security, ERP and AI governance day to day. We can also run the firm’s own IT and security, including support for LP cyber due diligence.

A managed service provider runs IT but rarely knows deal timelines, 100-day plans or what a buyer will check at exit. We diligence the deal, deliver the plan and then run the IT, so the work stays tied to the investment thesis.

Ideally during diligence, so findings turn straight into the 100-day plan. We also step in after close for carve-outs, TSA exits and integrations that are already underway.

Lower and middle-market portfolio companies without a large in-house IT team, especially in manufacturing and industrials, healthcare, and regulated industries such as defense suppliers working toward CMMC. Carve-outs are a particular strength.

With a small, defined first step: a 20-minute deal scope, a security baseline, an AI maturity assessment, or a portfolio mapping session. From there, we add only the services that pay off.
