The challenge
A PE-backed equipment rental platform ran on a legacy ERP whose vendor planned to retire the current version, while the business’s own needs kept growing. A rushed replacement on the vendor’s timeline would be expensive.
Security and privacy practices were informal, PCI readiness hadn’t been checked, and vendor and wireless spending was spread across the business with no one managing it.
Our approach
We ran a focused assessment of applications, infrastructure, organization and processes, plus security, compliance, data privacy, policies and PCI. We analyzed the risk of the retiring ERP and made recommendations on it, its vendor and related applications, reviewed wireless and vendor spending, and recommended a strategic IT leadership hire, with a ready-to-use job description.
The outcome
The assessment identified $30K a year in savings from consolidating wireless plans, and the vendor recommendations are designed to cut spend and admin work. The sponsor now has the evidence to decide when and how to replace the ERP on its own timeline, rather than under vendor pressure.
